After three rounds and four hours of lyrical display and wordplay, Khalid Seriki and Ikepo Soyinka of our Anthony campus have clinched first and third places respectively in this year’s AISEN Spoken Word competition. The students clinched the victory after competing with students from over 20 schools.
The theme of the competition was āThe Audacity of Hope,ā and as a result of the studentsā brilliant performance in their three presentations, the lead judge described them as “exceptional writers and speakers.”
Speaking after the competition, one of the accompanying teachers, Mr Jonathan Robinson, harped that the success can be attributed to opportunities we provide our students. He said, āThis tremendous feat can be ascribed to, firstly, the quality of teaching and array of opportunities such as creative writing contests, declamation, parliamentary debates and drama that the students are exposed to. Secondly, the learnersā continuous quest for personal development and excellence was crucial in their stellar performance.”
