Valentine’s Day 2026 wasn’t about cards or candy for our U15 boys; it was about the love of the game. At the St. Clair College Canada 7-a-side competition, our Greensprings Lekki stars turned the pitch at Newhall School into a stage for resilience and grit.

The tournament tested our character early. After a narrow 1–0 opening loss to British International School, our boys refused to blink, roaring back with a commanding 3–0 victory over Russell School to secure a semi-final spot. We carried that momentum into the knockout stage, dominating the hosts, Newhall School, with another brilliant 3–0 win to set up a high-stakes final rematch.

The championship match was a 1–1 thriller that pushed both teams to the limit, eventually leading to a penalty shootout. While we finished as runners-up, the true victory came when Greensprings was officially named the “Best Performing Team” of the tournament, a testament to the teamwork and sportsmanship that define us.

ƹapp School, we believe true education extends far beyond the classroom walls. It’s about cultivating well-rounded individuals equipped to lead and innovate in a complex world.

The story of our student, Pandora Onyedire, recently crowned a global winner of the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition, is a powerful case study of this philosophy in action. While her international writing win is staggering, it is just one facet of a multi-dimensional profile that exemplifies the Greensprings advantage.

  1. Academic Rigour with Real-World Application:

Pandora’s academic record is stellar. She ranked 1st in her IGCSE class with 8 A*s and 1 A. She is also a recipient of the Cambridge Learner Award. But at Greensprings, we ensure academic excellence is applied. Her internship at the leading law firm Banwo and Ighodalo and her role as a Marketing Associate at Miniemoney allowed her to connect her IB Economics and Business studies to real-world commerce and law, solidifying her career aspirations.

  1. Empowering Student Voice and Leadership:

We provide platforms for leadership that build confidence and initiative. Pandora didn’t just join clubs; she founded one. As the founder of FAYA (Fempower Association for Youth Awareness), she leads workshops on gender equity, turning passion into actionable change. Her roles as an Academic Ambassador and Dining Hall Prefect further honed her skills in mentorship, organization, and community building.

  1. A Stage for Creativity and Confidence:

A Greensprings education celebrates the arts. Pandora’s lifelong passion for performing arts, showcased in lead roles in our Christmas Show and Art Week plays, has been integral to her development. The discipline, empathy, and creative courage learned on stage are the same qualities that imbue her award-winning essay with such powerful storytelling.

The Greensprings Graduate:

Pandora’s journey, from a finalist in the Technovation Girls Competition at age 11 to a Yale Young African Scholar, illustrates our commitment to providing diverse growth opportunities. We don’t force students to choose between being a scholar, an artist, or an activist. We empower them to be all three.

ƹapp, we are committed to building the foundations for extraordinary lives. We don’t just prepare students for exams; we prepare them for life.

This accolade celebrates Amara’s exemplary contributions to climate education and action through her youth-led NGO, Preserve Our Roots.

Amara’s journey as a climate activist was ignited after experiencing a devastating flood that impacted her home in Lagos. Her work has included fundraising drives and initiatives to ensure marginalized communities have access to climate education.

Upon receiving the award, Amara shared, “I am not just a climate activist. I am not just a philanthropist or student. I am a representation of my natural world and my ancestors who once inhabited it. I truly believe in the power of youth because I have seen with my own eyes the change I have been able to make through my story and the stories I help tell.”

Our back-to-school was marked by the energy of fresh beginnings with the school unveiling new initiatives aimed at enhancing academic excellence and personal growth among the students at the Lekki, Anthony, and Ikoyi campuses for the 2024/2025 academic session.

As part of our back-to-school tradition, we hosted our annual tea parties, providing an opportunity for parents, teachers, and students to bond. These events offer a relaxed platform for parents and teachers to discuss the goals for the new academic year and share ideas on how to support their children. New parents also benefitted from learning firsthand from existing parents, gaining tips on how to navigate their child’s educational journey.

To facilitate a smooth transition for new students, we had a comprehensive orientation program that introduced parents to the Greensprings culture and expectations. This initiative allowed new students to engage with their peers, helping them acclimate to the school community.

Additionally, we held our annual Prefects’ Investiture Ceremony marking a significant moment in the school’s academic calendar. The event was attended by students, teachers, parents, and guests.

The highlight of the ceremony was the official pinning of prefect badges, symbolizing the authority and responsibilities entrusted to these student leaders. During the event, the new prefects took an oath of office, pledging to serve the school with dedication and humility.

As we embark on this new academic session, we are excited about the opportunities ahead. We remain committed to fostering academic excellence, creativity, and personal growth in every student, ensuring that each child’s educational journey is both enriching and fulfilling.
