The ripples at Rowe Park on February 21, 2026, signalled more than just the start of a race; they marked the birth of a new era for Nigerian swimming. In an exciting partnership with the Lagos State Sports Commission, the inaugural Dolphins Swimming League (Long Course) transformed the Yaba arena into a hub of raw talent and high-stakes competition.

While the pool was crowded with hopefuls, two swimmers turned the water into a stage for pure excellence. Timilehin Olaiya delivered a masterclass in versatility, sweeping four gold medals across the Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Individual Medley. Sharing the spotlight, Olufoladara Sokefun demonstrated incredible tenacity, securing a podium finish in three different disciplines to earn a gold, silver, and bronze.

This event wasn’t just about the hardware; it was a celebration of the growing depth in our local aquatic scene. As these athletes continue to push their limits, the league stands as a vital platform for nurturing the next generation of champions.

Greensprings School marked a major milestone with the successful unveiling of the 3D model of its proposed Creative Arts Centre, an event that drew strong support from Parents across all our campuses, the Greensprings Alumni body, and leaders across education, government, and Nigeria’s creative industry.

The unveiling forms part of the school’s ambitious ₦5 billion fundraising campaign, aimed at delivering two transformative projects: a world-class Creative Arts Centre and a modern Olympic-sized swimming pool. Both facilities are designed to nurture young Nigerian talents and provide the infrastructure needed for excellence in arts and sports.

The event attracted notable figures from Nollywood, including Patrick Doyle and Lala Akindoju. Patrick Doyle also served as the Master of Ceremonies, lending his voice and presence to an evening that celebrated creativity, education, and long-term impact.

In a powerful show of confidence in the project’s future benefits, attendees made on-the-spot pledges totaling over ₦30 million. The immediate response underscored widespread belief in the centre’s potential to serve not only Greensprings students but the wider creative community.

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Lai Koiki, Executive Director and CEO of Greensprings School, emphasized the importance of nurturing talent early and holistically. She highlighted the need for dedicated, secure spaces where children can develop academically, artistically, socially, and physically.

The Creative Arts Centre is envisioned as a cultural hub with a dedicated theatre and creative spaces that will support performances, training, and community engagement. Alongside the planned Olympic-sized swimming pool at the Anthony Campus, the projects reflect Greensprings School’s long-term vision to raise a new generation of Nigerian artists, athletes, and innovators.

With strong attendance, influential advocates, and significant funds raised at the unveiling, the 3D model presentation stands as a clear success and a promising step toward transforming Nigeria’s creative and sporting landscape.

Across Nigeria are children whose talents are bigger than their circumstances. Many of them carry gifts that could shape our culture and inspire the world. What they often lack is not passion but opportunity.

On December 18th, Greensprings School will unveil the 3D model of the Creative Arts Centre at the Lekki Campus. The unveiling will take place at 4 p.m. and will be held alongside the Secondary and IB End of Year Production. It will be an evening of creativity, culture and celebration, and a moment for guests to see a vision that has been years in the making.

The Creative Arts Centre is a legacy project built on the belief that education should nurture both the mind and the imagination. It has been designed as a multidisciplinary home for music, visual arts, dance, drama, film and design. It will empower young people to explore their talents, build confidence and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s creative economy.

Although the Centre will serve Greensprings students, its impact reaches far beyond the school. It will provide access and mentorship for young creatives in the Ibeju Lekki axis and wider community. Through workshops, exhibitions and artist in residence programs, the Centre will support young people who need a place where their talent can grow.

Alongside this vision is the continuing fundraising effort for the 50m Olympic size swimming pool, another project created to give Nigerian students a world class training environment. Somewhere in Nigeria is a child who could become the next Michael Phelps in Nigeria. A child whose potential will only shine when given the right space to learn and thrive. Both the Creative Arts Centre and the swimming pool stand for the same belief. Nigeria’s children deserve infrastructure that matches their ambition.

During the unveiling, guests will have the opportunity to see the model up close, connect with others who care about youth development and learn about partnership and donor opportunities for the next phase of construction. It is an invitation to be part of a legacy that will shape generations.

On December 18th, Greensprings School welcomes all who believe in the power of creativity, talent and education to join in this moment of inspiration and possibility.

For alumni who would like to attend, kindly RSVP through the alumni link:

As Greensprings marked 40 years, we paused to celebrate not only a legacy of learning but also a vision of the future, seen through the eyes of our youngest learners. The theme, “Through the Lens of Tomorrow,” captures the spirit of imagination, growth, and possibility that has always defined our journey.

In this anniversary reflection edition, our preschool children painted pictures with words and art that reveal what Greensprings might look like in the next 40 years. Their visions remind us that education is about more than today; it is about preparing children to dream boldly and to see beyond what already exists.

Some imagined schools with glass buildings that shine in the sunlight, floating in the air. Others dreamed of flying buses gliding through the clouds, robot teachers guiding lessons with games that come alive, and talking desks ready to help with every question. The classrooms of their tomorrow are filled with creativity, movement, and joy. Even the playgrounds sparkle with imagination: swings that bounce into bubbles, pools of water that change colour, and robots ready to play alongside friends.

These reflections, though playful, carry a deeper truth. They show us what 40 years of Greensprings has always been about: sparking curiosity, nurturing creativity, and shaping minds that see endless possibilities. The future imagined by our children is not just fantasy; it is a testament to the seeds of innovation, resilience, and joy that have been planted in their hearts.

As we celebrate this milestone, we look back with gratitude for four decades of dedication and excellence, and we look forward with excitement to the future our children so vividly describe. For if tomorrow’s Greensprings is as bright, bold, and beautiful as they imagine, then the journey of the next 40 years will be even more inspiring than the last.
